IFC wins bid for "Cheerful Weather for the Wedding"

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - IFC Films has taken U.S. rights to Donald Rice's romantic comedy "Cheerful Weather for the Wedding."

The film is an adaptation of the British author Julia Strachey's novella of the same name, which was published in 1932 by the Hogarth Press. The book was recently re-released by Persephone Books.

Elizabeth McGovern, Felicity Jones, Luke Treadaway, Mackenzie Crook and Zoe Tapper star in the rom-com set in England, which had its world premiere at Tribeca earlier this year. Donald Rice directed the film from a script that he co-wrote with Mary Henely-Magill.

The story follows a reluctant bride on her wedding day in Dorset. Played by Jones, Dolly becomes even less willing to make the trip to the altar when the man of her dreams puts in a surprise appearance and threatens to spoil her mother's plans for her daughter.
